Keep track of your employees' schedules with these apps
Digital transformation has completely changed day-to-day business. From the moment they open their doors until they close the shutters. But did you know that it is also key to human resources management?
In this post, we are going to show you some applications that you can use so that your team can record their working hours.
Time registration, mandatory in Spain
On 8 March 2019, Royal Decree-Law 8/2019, on urgent measures for social protection and the fight against precarious working hours, was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE). A text that announced the obligation to register the working hours of workers in all Spanish companies and that 2 months later, specifically on 12 May 2019, came into force.
The aim of this Royal Decree-Law is to record both the start and end of each worker's working day, with the corresponding breaks, in order to check that the established timetable is complied with and to avoid abuses on both sides. In addition, this new regulation allows that, if a worker works overtime, his or her employer can pay for it, so that everything is fully recorded.
The law is applicable to all persons working in any type of company, with the following exceptions:
-
Senior management personnel.
-
Domestic workers.
-
Prisoners in penitentiary institutions.
-
Professional sportsmen and women.
-
Public entertainers.
-
Working members of cooperatives.
-
Lawyers in collective or individual offices.
-
Residents for the training of health specialists.
-
Workers with disabilities in special employment centers.
The benefits of recording your team's working hours
As you may have already seen, for employees within a company, this law allows them to record the time they start and finish their workday. This helps prevent unpaid overtime.
However, employees are not the only ones who benefit from this system. If you run an SME, recording your workers' hours also offers several advantages, such as:
-
Complying with regulations by demonstrating that your company respects workers' rights.
-
Managing your resources efficiently by optimizing your employees' workload.
-
Controlling your company's costs and enhancing your business's profitability.
-
Providing accurate information about your employees' work, for example, to organize their holidays.
-
Identifying areas for improvement, such as adding more staff to shifts with higher workloads.
-
Fostering commitment and motivation by establishing a climate of trust.
On 8 March 2019, Royal Decree-Law 8/2019 on urgent measures for social protection and the fight against job insecurity in working hours was published in the BOE.
