Electronic identification

Today, identification through digital platforms has become an indispensable necessity to ensure the efficiency and, above all, the security of people in the digital world. Online transactions are booming thanks to the boost in e-commerce and the processing of documentation with the public administration in the digital world.

This electronic identification, in addition to allowing internet users to access these services more easily, protects individuals and allows these transactions to be carried out in a transparent and secure manner. It also generates a climate of trust both for the people who use the internet and for the service providers, as the identity will be verified in a reliable way, considerably reducing the time invested in carrying out these procedures in person.

For this reason, we would like to talk about eIDAS, the electronic identification regulation approved by the European Union. Don't miss it!

eIDAS Regulation

Regulation (EU) No. 910/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council, eIDAS, is a regulation that allows any economic transaction to be carried out securely and reliably. This regulation was approved on 23 July 2014 and establishes a common framework for action so that all persons and companies in the European Union can carry out electronic procedures and transactions as securely as possible in any country in the European region.

Its acronym comes from electronic Identification, Authentication and trust Services. These words reinforce the protective nature of eIDAS for all European citizens.

The functions of eIDAS are aimed at protecting the identification of individuals, and we will now review its main features:

  1. It unifies the identification systems in any EU country to process any documentation transaction online.
  2. Increases the level of security in digital transactions by establishing common principles of action.
  3. It boosts e-commerce by guaranteeing that companies can offer their services to any person in the European Union.
  4. Simplifies procedures by avoiding face-to-face visits and encouraging the use of online tools.

The acronym stands for electronic Identification, Authentication and trust Services.

Isn't it useful? If you want to know how SMEs and freelancers can make the most of this regulation, continue reading this article!

Its application for SMEs and the self-employed

Thanks to the eIDAS Regulation, both SMEs and freelancers can enjoy a number of advantages. We tell you about them!

  1. Electronic signature of contracts: thanks to this regulation, companies can streamline their contractual processes, as they will avoid having to print and send them physically, and will only have to sign them digitally.
  2. Electronic invoicing: eIDAS makes it possible to optimise the process of issuing and receiving invoices, for example, by automating this process. Thanks to digital tools, it can be integrated with accounting systems and comply with legal requirements.
  3. Identify identities remotely: with this regulation, companies will be able to identify their employees online, which will make it possible to promote teleworking and increase flexibility in their day-to-day work.
  4. Processing with the public administration: thanks to a common electronic identification framework, SMEs will be able to participate, for example, in public tenders, which will allow them to access these contracts more easily.

As you have seen, the eIDAS Regulation makes it possible to speed up the entire electronic identification process thanks to the use of digital systems and, furthermore, to guarantee the protection of the most confidential data of both individuals and companies.
